The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at Mount Allison University is a unique program that integrates three essential disciplines. This program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of citizenship, government operations, justice, and the implications of various economic systems and policies. As the only PPE program in Canada east of Ontario, it stands out as one of only five such programs in the country, offering a multidisciplinary approach to studying the complexities of human experience and societal challenges.

Program structure

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics is designed to provide students with a flexible and comprehensive education over a four-year period. The program offers two options:

Bachelor of Arts (BA) major
Bachelor of Arts (BA) honours

Students can choose to emphasize in one of the three disciplines: philosophy, politics, or economics. The curriculum is structured to include:

Courses from all three disciplines, with special topics offered in upper years.
Most required courses are at the first and second-year levels, allowing for greater flexibility in upper years.
Access to the Frank McKenna School of Philosophy, Politics, & Economics, which enhances learning through international partnerships and work-integrated learning opportunities.

This program is designed to equip students with critical thinking skills and a multidisciplinary perspective, preparing them for various career paths or further education.

Academic Requirements

To apply for the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at Mount Allison University, students must meet the following Academic Requirements:

Minimum Grade Requirement: A minimum final grade of 65% or the equivalent is required in all university-preparatory courses reviewed.
Prerequisite Courses:
- A university-preparatory math course (pre-calculus) is required.
- A university-preparatory language arts course and at least four additional university-preparatory courses are generally required.
Early Admission Consideration: Students may be considered based on their final Grade 11 transcripts. A minimum admissions average of 80% is required for early admission.
Official Transcripts: Transcripts must be sent directly to Mount Allison’s Registrar’s Office by the issuing institution. Notarized English translations should be included if applicable.

Transcripts may be required to be evaluated by WES in some cases.

As English is the primary language of instruction at Mount Allison, students must possess a mastery of English sufficient to communicate effectively, follow lectures, and write assignments and examinations in English.

If you meet Mount Allison's academic requirements, but can't provide proof of English proficiency, you may be offered conditional admission.
