Program Overview

Welcome to the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician program at Cambrian College! This program is designed to equip you with the essential skills needed to maintain the quality of indoor spaces. You will prepare to challenge the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Gas Technician and Oil Burner Technician certifications through hands-on training in state-of-the-art HVAC labs. The curriculum covers a solid understanding of natural gas, propane, and fuel oil heating systems, along with air conditioning and refrigeration principles. By the end of your studies, you will be well-prepared for entry-level positions in the industry, having mastered the skills required for installation, service, and troubleshooting of residential and light commercial heating and cooling applications.

Program Structure

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician program is structured to provide comprehensive training over a period of 4 semesters (2 years). The program is delivered on-campus and full-time, ensuring that students receive the necessary hands-on experience. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Hands-on training in advanced HVAC labs
  • Accreditation by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA)
  • Capped enrolment to ensure personalized attention
  • Opportunity for select students to participate in the Ontario Skills Competition
