The Personal Support Worker program at Niagara College is designed for individuals who are passionate about enhancing the quality of life for others. Upon completion, students are awarded a 1 Year Certificate and are prepared to enter the healthcare workforce as skilled support workers. The Personal Support Worker program is structured to provide a comprehensive education over a 1 Year period. Key features of the program structure include:

  • 42 hours of hands-on experience in a simulation lab.
  • Over 250 hours of clinical placement in both long-term care and community settings.
  • Unique interprofessional education courses aimed at enhancing collaboration skills.
  • Graduates receive two additional certificates: Managing Food Safety and Gentle Persuasive Approach.
  • Opportunities for bridging into the Practical Nursing diploma program for domestic students.
