Program Overview

The Guaranteed Admission Pathway (GAP) is a unique opportunity for students to earn a university degree at the University of Guelph, regardless of their academic background. This program is designed for learners who may not have previous post-secondary experience, including mature students, home-schooled individuals, or those who have not completed high school. Admission to a degree program is based on the academic record from the Open Learning program rather than high school transcripts, making it accessible for a wider range of students.

Program Structure

The Guaranteed Admission Pathway to the Bachelor of Commerce program is structured to provide students with a flexible and supportive learning environment. The program includes:

  • Program Length: Typically, students register for two online courses per semester for two consecutive semesters.
  • Students must complete a total of four degree-level courses (2.00 credits) with a minimum cumulative average of 70%.
  • Courses are delivered entirely online, allowing for maximum flexibility.
  • Students will be eligible to transfer to a University of Guelph degree program in the following semester upon meeting the requirements.
  • There is a $50 transfer fee to apply for undergraduate studies after completing the required courses.

While in the pathway, students will receive guidance from an Open Learning program Counsellor to assist with the application process to undergraduate studies.

Featured Experiences

  • All courses are delivered online, providing flexibility for students to learn at their own pace.
  • Students have access to dedicated support from an Open Learning program Counsellor throughout their studies.
  • The program allows for a smooth transition to a Bachelor of Commerce degree upon successful completion of the required courses.
  • Students can choose courses from both arts and social sciences to fulfill their program requirements.
