Program Overview

The Practical Nursing program at Centennial College equips students with the essential knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary for success in today's complex healthcare environment. Enrolled students have the opportunity to register for specialized academic certificates, such as Indigenous Knowledges: First Peoples in Canada or Inclusive Leadership Practices, allowing them to earn additional credentials. This program is designed to meet the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and prepares graduates for a rewarding career in nursing.

Program Structure

The Practical Nursing program is structured to be completed in 2 years over the course of 4 semesters. The program includes a blend of classroom instruction, independent study, and hands-on clinical experience. Key features of the program structure include:

  • Classroom instruction supplemented by multimedia support and ongoing clinical experience.
  • Some courses are delivered through a combination of classroom and online instruction (blended courses).
  • Small group instruction in clinical and laboratory settings utilizing advanced technology, including computerized simulation.
  • Access to a nursing lab that replicates a hospital environment, complete with nursing stations and operating room facilities.
  • Opportunities for immersive experiences in various healthcare settings, including acute, rehabilitation, and long-term care agencies.
