Program Overview

The Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma at Capilano University equips students with the essential skills and knowledge to work effectively with children under five years old in licensed preschools and childcare centers. This program is designed to meet the requirements for various certifications, including the Early Childhood Educator Registry for the ECE Certificate to Practice, Infant/Toddler Certificate to Practice, and Special Needs Certificate to Practice. Students who successfully complete the diploma can also apply to further their education in a degree program. The program is now offered at CapU's newest campus in Squamish, B.C..

Program Structure

The Early Childhood Care and Education Diploma is structured to be completed in two years. The program includes:

  • Three practicum placements to develop practical skills in observing and understanding children.
  • Full-time or part-time course load options available.
  • Eligibility to apply for various credentials upon completion, including the ECCE Basic Certificate, Infant Toddler Certificate, and Special Needs Certificate.

This program is offered at multiple locations, including North Vancouver, Sunshine Coast, and Squamish, allowing students flexibility in their studies. Students are encouraged to engage in experiential learning through hands-on experiences in real-world settings.
